How could another year have flown by us? Season 5 editing is underway with a premiere date of Nov 4, 2012 on SDPB. Will follow soon after on Rural TV.
Season 5 was one of our best yet, and one of the funnest to film. We traveled the country far and wide and can't wait to share it with you. From tigers to sea turtles to underground lakes....it is sure to be our best season yet!

November 1, 2011
Well, its here, season 4! We are excited to bring it to you! We had a great filming season despite getting off to a rough start. The new season hits the air on November 6th in some areas. Other areas will follow in early 2012.

Despite losing a couple of major sponsors due to the economy, we were able to complete the season, thanks to businesses that stepped up to the plate to support Nature Adventures. We thank them for their generosity! Season 4 takes us from North Minnesota, to Montana, Wyoming, Colorado, and Nebraska, and of course our home, South Dakota.

Be sure to tune in November 6th at 5:30 central to catch the premiere of season 4!

Catch you later!

We are in the final weeks of post-production and scurry to get the shows sent off for closed captioning. All in all it was a very successful season and we are looking forward to sharing our adventures with folks throughout the Midwest in our new expanded areas including MN, NE, and ND! We will always be thankful to the folks of South Dakota and SDPB for being the backbone of the creation of the series! We are excited to share season 3 with you!

As filming season comes to a close and we head to the editing bay to prepare season 3, we are reminded how blessed we are to be able to carry out this mission. Sometimes things don't go our way, we struggle to find funding, we spend many sleepless nights thinking of ways we can improve and do more to give back to our society and children, but none the less, we are very grateful to those of you who have believed in us, and helped us, even if only in some small way. Each day, we thank God for you.

On Monday, we had shows at the South Dakota State Fair. Mother nature did not seem to be on our side! Rain, cold and wind, but we made the best of it. We appreciate those in attendance who braved the elements and joined us for a smaller than planned, more intimate gathering on the Freedom Stage. We thank the SD State Fair for having us, and look forward to returning in 2011 (and next time we will leave the rain home!)

In case you haven't heard, we have been nominated for a regional Emmy Award by the Midwest Chapter of the National Academy for Television Arts and Sciences, in the 'Childrens 12 and Under Series' Category. We are extremely excited! (as you can imagine) Even being nominated is a HUGE honor, and we thank Bob and the gang at SDPB for believing in us! We hope to attend the Awards Banquet in Mpls on Sept 25th, and you know the crew at SDPB will be the first we thank if we are given the chance to get up on the stage. After all, it was the fine folks at SDPB who took the first belief in us, and have been supporting us wholeheartedly since day one. We are blessed to know you, and grateful for the opportunities and faith you have given us.

Love, Terri and Todd

Hard to believe another filming season is upon us! We are excited to announce our third season, which will debut November of 2010. We will begin filming season 3 this week! Season three will air in Minnesota, WI, Nebraska, North Dakota and South Dakota!

We will be traveling to Northern Minnesota for the Minnesota Governors Fishing opener on Lake Kabetogama! We will also be filming bears and wolves while in Northern Minnesota, at the Bear Center in Ely, The Vince Shute Wildlife Sanctuary  in Orr, and the Wolf Center in Ely. Thank you to the MN Dept of Tourism, Curt Johnson, A Stay Inn-Ely, and the Gateway Lodge in Orr for the accommodations!

This past week we wrapped up our Nature Adventures LIVE shows for this school season. We do have a couple of shows this summer at several fairs as well as the Outdoor Campus in Sioux Falls, and a Cancer Society Event in July. We visited over 40 schools in the past three months! We thank the schools and students as well as the many local newspapers which covered the events!

January 27th, 2010

Hard to believe its almost February! January has been a visit month for our team. We are working on lining up sponsors for season 3, as well as working to find funding for closed captioning services so we can begin airing in other states. We have visited several schools this month and also did a stage show at the Miller Farm and Home Show in Miller, SD. We got this wonderful email from them:

Guess who was the talk of the Miller Farm and Home Show?  Todd & Terri and their snakes!  Thanks so much for

coming to Miller and presenting your show and animals.  I have heard many comments on how good the presentation was and how much everyone enjoyed it!

It really added to our show.

Thank you to Miller, SD for having us!

We also found ourselves back at the Outdoor Campus in Sioux Falls, despite the weather dampening our plans! February will be even busier with many shows scheduled throughout the state, plus one in Sioux City, IA at the Betty Strong Encounter Center!

December 3rd, 2009

What a spectacular fall it has been! The Nature Adventures LIVE team has been busy booking school visits for this winter. We have a couple of dozen schools booked already and requests coming in almost daily! It will be a very busy winter for our team. We also had a chance to present Nature Adventures LIVE to groups in Watertown, SD this week, and a group at the South Dakota Native American Indian Business and Education Expo in Sioux Falls recently.  We have had great feedback and have heard very heartwarming stories from attendees on how we touched and changed their lives. This is what Nature Adventures is all about! The rewards of the heart make the hard work we put in to this project so worth it!  Special thanks to the business behind the scenes that make this possible! Special thanks to Watertown Walmart, Watertown Pizza Ranch, Lennox Business Buddies, Platte Pizza Ranch, Cenex in Toronto, Fort Randall Casino in Marty, Hitchcock-Tulare Booster Club, and Farmers Merchants State Bank in Plankinton.

Nature Adventures has not been seen for a couple weeks due to the SDPB Pledge Drive but will return on Sunday, Dec 15th.

November 5th, 2009

Season 2 has kicked off without a hitch! It looks amazing broadcast in 1080 hi-def! We know alot of viewers missed it due to the Vikings/Packers game, but we hope you will tune in next week!  Despite that, we have had some great feedback and hope you will find season 2 both entertaining and informative.

We are lining up school visits for this winter. We are pleased with the support these visits are getting from businesses and schools throughout the state! Our goal is to reach as many children as possible, not just to educate and learn to appreciate, but get them excited to get out and explore this beautiful world we live in!

Halloween 2009 proved fun and exciting, as we were invited to judge the costume contest at the VFW in Brandon, SD. We love to get out and meet people and strive to maintain an active role in helping out and being active in the communities we live and air in.

This Friday, November 6th, we will be talking LIVE to Rick and Ruth on Viewpoint University on KSOO Radio. Please tune in and listen...we go on the air at 5:30pm. Thank you to Rick and Ruth for having us!

Mark your calendars for January 23rd. We will be conducting a Nature Adventures LIVE presentation at the Outdoor Campus in Sioux Falls. This is a great opportunity for the general public to be able to come out and meet us, see what we are all about, and have some fun and learn all at the same time! We do hope you will join us. Please see the Outdoor Campus website at www.outdoorcampus.org for more info on their classes and how to register. This class is free and open to all ages, however we do urge you to register early as the classes do fill up quickly!

That's all for now! Thanks for reading!

Mandy Audiss, PAWS Director, Chamberlain SD

"Thank you!  The kids really had fun.  I have been telling my friends/relatives you were here.  Everyone thought it was so cool you guys came here."

Ron Jacobson, Supt., Elem Principal, Gettysburg SD

"A special thanks for coming to Gettysburg.  The program was really enjoyed by everyone.  I think even the people that were afraid of snakes enjoyed the show.  Thanks again and good luck in your future shows."

Mark Sampson, Principal, Iroquois SD

"Your presentation was greatly appreciated and if you need a recommendation of any type let me know.  I think that a lot of our students got over a few fears and gained a healthy respect for your animals."

Derek Klawitter, The Outdoor Campus Community and Group Program Coordinator

"The Nature Adventures Live program was absolutely great.  Not only did It allow people to come face to face, and have a hands on experience with a wide variety of South Dakota Critters, they also shared everything you ever wanted to know about them as well.  We are already looking forward to the upcoming program this summer."

Dan Dalchow ~ Principal, Groton Area Elementary

"The Nature Adventures Live presentation had our student's attention for the entire 45 minutes they performed.  A sign of a good presentation is when you can have the attention of 325 students for that length of time and then have them talking about it aftwards.  Their show had lots of interesting information and it was very entertaining."

Heath Larson, Principal, Pierre School District

"Nature Adventures was an excellent assembly for our students!  Informative presentation and captivating reptiles for the kids to enjoy!"

Dr. Chris Noid, Howard, SD School Principal

"I would like to say the program was very good and keep the students attention the whole time and they learned things they didn’t know."

Dan Leikvold, Lead-Deadwood School

“The presentation was educational, yet light, humorous, and exciting!  Todd and Teri present in such a way that although learning is taking place,  the kids probably forgot they were at school.   We’d have them back for sure!”

Danny Janklow, Horace Mann Elementary, Rapid City

“I would like to share my thoughts to your program: After being contacted by Nature Adventures, learning about the program and the presentation opportunity, our students at Horace Mann Elementary took some time to watch episodes of your broadcast as well as learn more about your program and the South Dakota wildlife living alongside many of our students. During the presentation, many students were so excited to have the opportunity to see various reptiles up close and personal. Through this interaction, many students were able to see the animals for the first time in their life. Several of our students, even though they have lived in SD all of their lives, have never traveled into the Black Hills or across the prairie (unless traveling between RC and the reservation). This opportunity provided our students the chance to learn about, see and actually touch large reptiles. Our students have been provided this incredible experience through the kindness of others. The opportunity shared with my students again reinforces to me the generosity and kindness so many South Dakota residents share as a part of their daily lives. Thank you very much for taking the time to share your knowledge, expertise and animals with our students.”

Brad Olinger-Principal, Flandreau Public

The students thoroughly enjoyed the Nature Adventure program. Many misconceptions about reptiles were corrected by Todd and Terri's presentation to the students.”

Tracey Olson, Superintendent / Elementary Principal Parker School District

“The kids absolutely loved it! Terri and Todd’s presentation was so entertaining and educational that the kids are still talking about how AWESOME it was!”

Wesley Grantham, Wesley’s Rangers, Watertown SD

thanks we had a great time with you guys”

Margaret King, Armour Middle School, 5-8 Science teacher

"What fun to be up close and personal with critters we rarely get to see!"

Chrissy Hakeman, Watertown
The students absolutely loved it - We've talked about all of this: characteristics of the animals, classification,  SD history/environments - everything related to what 4th grade does.  Thank you!!

Jerry Schlekeway, SD Division IWLA President
The comments I heard were that the kids really enjoyed the presentation and the hands on with the snakes. It also was evident that the the students were basically not afraid of snakes but the teachers and principals were a little spooky. Overall very informative with an excellent presentation.  Thanks!

Miller Farm Show Organizers
FANTASTIC!  The Nature Adventures presentation was a fantastic addition to our annual Miller Farm and Home Show.  The program  provided area youth with and educational, fun and exciting (live reptiles) opportunity!  Thank you!

Danny Janklow, Horace Mann Elementary, Rapid City, SD                             I can’t tell you how excited I am to know this opportunity is coming for my kids. They are going to love it. Many teachers have shown the students what to expect via your website and my daughter and I love watching your show on PBS. Abby is 5 and she thinks you have a “cool” job! I would have to agree, I love seeing people who enjoy their jobs and love what they do. It’s obvious you do both! I look forward to meeting your team and look forward to an exciting presentation. We are all very excited about this opportunity! Thank you again and please let whomever made this possible that we at Horace Mann sincerely appreciate the connection of the generosity to the learning needs and exposure for our students!

Kym M Johnston, Principal Chancellor and Lennox School District
"What a great assembly to promote the creatures of South Dakota! The kids were focused on the presentation and loved every minute of it! Thanks for coming to Lennox!
