If you imagine the Florida Keys to look like this, you will be shocked to know that there is much more to them than meets the eye.
Florida is very biologically diverse, and the Florida Keys are no exception. We were shocked at the number of wildlife species that we encountered during our time there, many of which were very unique, such as the Key Deer. I swear we could have picked one up and took it home. They were so friendly. Although it was cool to get an up close look, we know that is a bad sign that these creatures have had to adapt to having their habitats invaded by humans. That is sad.
The Florida Keys are beautiful, diverse, fun and most of all, important for many wildlife species. If you love reptiles like us, you will love the Keys. If you don't like reptiles, don't worry....they are wild creatures and are more scared of you than you need to be of them!
Our experience in the Keys was a positive one. The diversity of the region offers something for everyone, no matter what their niche is.
We highly encourage a visit...and don't forget your camera!
