Terri and Todd head 'Up North' to attend the Minnesota Governors Fishing Opener at Lake Kabetogama where they visit with Governor Pawlenty about the Minnesota outdoors. During their time up north, they take time to take in the Devils' Kettle and High Falls and take a hike on the Border Trail to get a bird's eye view of the Canadian border. On their journey, they encounter several critters, including eagles, loons, deer, pelican, and find signs of moose nearby!

A note from Terri and Todd about this episode:

There are few places in the world quite like Northern Minnesota! We enjoyed every minute of our trip 'up north'! It was our first but certainly not our last time at Lake Kabetogama. We got paired up with a wonderful guide who was knowledgeable of the area and didn't mind a bit when we got a bit 'off topic' and got a bit goofy!

The event was amazing...the people...the food...the experience...of course, Governor Pawlenty, who is pretty dang cool! It was cold much of our trip there...a traditional Minnesota Fishing Opener! But luckily the rain stayed away. We were lucky that we added a couple of additional days to our journey so we were able to take in other sites in the area.

Here are some behind the scenes photos from the trip!

Our videographer, Tom, landed this huge walleye! I guess they don't make a net quite big enough to help his catch, so he had to find another means!

Here we are with the Governor...and and we didn't have to pull any strings, he just agreed to pose with us! What a guy! Don't you just love his 'Paul Bunyan' look!?
Now that's a TRUE Minnesotan!

And here we are chilling before dinner, after a hard day our exploring! Be sure to note how much bigger Todd's head is than everyone elses. :)
